Taxes

Sales Tax applies to your order in accordance with state regulations based on the shipping destination. Factors determining the amount of tax charged on your order may include freight charges, handling charges, the type of item purchased and certain discounts. Gift cards are not subject to sales tax. Some states require you to independently pay tax on items purchased online when tax is not collected by the retailer. Please check your state regulations for details.

Individuals, businesses, and entities exempt from paying state sales tax based on your state’s sales tax requirements (such as governments Native Americans living on a reservation, or for agricultural purposes) can apply to use their tax exempt status here. Once a certificate is registered, qualifying tax exempt purchases can be made in-store or by contacting Customer Support at 1-800-444-3353. For orders placed online by an entity or individual exempt from paying sales tax, after tax exempt status has been registered at this link, please contact Customer Support at 1-800-444-3353 for reimbursem*nt of sales tax paid in the online transaction.

We do not offer tax exemption on phone and online sales for resellers. Any orders placed online by resellers will be charged the applicable sales tax.

Shipping Costs

Harbor Freight stores and the Harbor Freight website accept our Harbor Freight credit card, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover and Harbor Freight gift cards. Our stores also accept ApplePay.

While we do our best to prevent backorders, they do occasionally happen. The item will be sent as soon as our warehouse receives a new shipment.

If an order has an item on backorder, Harbor Freight will charge shipping on the entire merchandise total including the shipping cost for the item on backorder.

If you paid with a debit card, we recommend you deduct the full amount of your order from your records to ensure funds are available when your item becomes available.

If the backordered item is discontinued or unavailable, the item will be cancelled from your order and you will not be charged. There may be a comparable item or upgraded version available. Please search our website or contact Customer Support for assistance at 1-800-444-3353.

You may be able to order an item in advance of its release. Pre-order items are clearly marked, and include an estimated shipping date.

When you order a pre-order item, you will only be charged when the item ships. If an order has a pre-order item and regular items, Harbor Freight will charge shipping on the entire merchandise total including the shipping cost for the item on pre-order. When the pre-order item ships, you will only be charged for the item (plus tax if applicable).

Things to Know:

  • Coupons cannot be combined with any other offers or coupons
  • All coupons must contain an original barcode, coupon code and expiration date
  • Coupons cannot be bought, sold or transferred
  • Coupons are not valid on prior purchases after 30 days from original purchase date
  • Original coupon must be presented
  • Each coupon contains a specific offer and restrictions
  • Percent-off, dollar-off, or promotional item coupons are limited to one coupon per customer, per day

My Coupon Doesn’t Work

When coupons cannot be successfully applied, it may be due to one or more of the following reasons:

  • Coupon validation date has expired
  • Item may be excluded from the offer
  • Code does not match an existing offer (may be expired or invalid for another reason)
  • Coupon has already been applied to your order or previous order – one coupon per item
  • You’ve ordered the maximum amount of a given item per the coupon offer
  • Coupon code is not yet active but will be in the future
  • Percentage-off and free coupon cannot be combined in the same order – use one or the other
  • Minimum purchase (item quantity or dollar amount) has not been reached
  • The item is on Clearance
